EU regulations
We follow the strictest standards for more responsible refrigeration
Like other leading names in the world of commercial refrigeration, Arneg conforms to the European Ecodesign and Energy Labelling regulation that came into force in the Spring of 2021.
But simply applying the latest standards is not enough. We are also committed to helping partners, customers and end users to acquire a better understanding of the rules and product information.
This is one of the reasons why we are active in the “RDC Refrigerated Display Cabinets” Working Group of Eurovent, the European industry association for indoor climate, process cooling and food cold chain technologies.
Ecodesign
European Ecodesign Regulation 2019/2024 establishes energy efficiency limits for commercial refrigeration equipment with a view to eliminating less efficient products and promoting the durability and recyclability of materials. All refrigerated displays on the market must now conform to specific values, as defined by the EEI Energy Efficiency Index.
Ecodesign: energy efficiency limits
from 1 March 2021
EEI≤ 80 for ice-cream freezers
EEI ≤ 100 for other refrigerated cabinets
from 1 September 2023EEI
≤ 50 for ice-cream freezers
EEI ≤ 80 for other refrigerated cabinets
The performance and consumption of a new product must be properly documented before it can be sold. On top of this, certain conditions must be guaranteed in order to extend its useful life and promote a more circular economy.
SPARE PARTS MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST 8 YEARS
SPARE PARTS MUST BE DELIVERED WITHIN 15 WORKING DAYS OF ORDER
REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE INFORMATION MUST BE PROVIDED ON THE MANUFACTURER’S WEBSITE
DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE PROVIDED FOR RECOVERY AND RECYCLING
Energy labelling
By introducing energy labelling in Regulation 2019/2018, the European Community aims to reduce energy requirements and improve the efficiency of electrical equipment. By publishing energy efficiency data for our products, we confirm our commitment to transparency and more sustainable performance.
A label indicates the energy efficiency of refrigerated displays on a scale from A to G. Classes A and B represent the ideal values towards which the market is moving.
The label presents essential product information and includes a QR code that links to a more detailed data sheet containing all the technical information required by the regulation. This information is also stored in the EPREL database, which is designed for use by the supervisory authorities but is also accessible to the public.

Displaying an energy efficiency label is mandatory for:
-
Manufacturers
We are required to equip all the products we sell or display in trade fairs with a compliant printed label. We must also make available a product file containing technical data and, if requested by supervisory authorities, provide full technical documentation.
-
Distributors
Distributors are obliged to apply the labels provided by manufacturers to all appliances wherever they are displayed and sold, even in trade fairs.
